Melbourne – Premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu welcomed on Friday President Christofias saying Cyprus-Australia relations are ‘warm, based on human relations, history and culture'.

He also said that the two countries share the same democratic values and that Cypriots in Australia play a very important role.
Christofias flew to Melbourne from Adelaide on Thursday, and is also scheduled to meet Victoria's Governor Alex Chernov as well as with the large number of Cypriots living there.

The President is on a six-day official visit to Australia where he also gets the chance to touch base with the over 80,000 Cypriot-Australians - the second largest community outside Cyprus.

He has already visited Canberra and South Australia and his last stop will be Sydney where he is scheduled to meet New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir.
Also, with Archbishop Stylianos Harkianakis, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia.

He is due back in Cyprus on Tuesday.
