Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Samir Moqbel is due in Cyprus on Sunday for an official two-day visit.

On Monday, Moqbel will be received by the president at an official welcoming ceremony after which talks will take place between the delegations of the two countries, chaired by Cypriot Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides.

The focus of the talks will be bilateral relations between Cyprus and Lebanon and the overall security situation in the region as a result of terrorism, new asymmetric threats and the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in Syria.

After the official talks a bilateral military cooperation plan will be signed.

During his visit Moqbel will also meet the House president and will be briefed on the work of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Larnaca.
