Three beaches on the island of Cyprus are among the 25 best beaches for Europe, according to the website Tripadvisor.

The 2016 Tripadvisor Travellers` Choice for the best 25 beaches in Europe include Fig Tree Bay in the Protaras resort, which was described as `the best beach in Protaras`, Makronissos beach in the Ayia Napa resort, described as `the most perfect beach in Cyprus` and the Konnos Bay situated between Ayia Napa and Protaras, described as `dream waters`.

Mayor of Ayia Napa Yiannis Karousos has welcomed the results of Tripadvisor website, adding that all three beaches are of a truly natural beauty.
 
Fig Tree Bay ranked ninth, Makronissos 17th, and Konnos Bay 23rd.

The Tripadvisor travellers chose Playa de Ses Illetes in Formentera, Balearic Islands, as the best beach in Europe, followed by Elafonissi Beach in Elafonissi, Greece, Praia da Marinha in Carvoeiro, Portugal, El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons in El Cotillo, Spain and Playa de Boloniain Tarifa, Spain.

The list with the best 25 beaches in Europe includes also five more beaches in Greece (Porto Limnionas Beach in Zakynthos, Greece, Balos Beach and Lagoon in Kissamos, Greece, St Paul's Bay in Lindos, Greece, Sarakiniko Beach in Milos, Greece, Egremni Beach in Lefkada, Greece).
