A hunt for the prehistoric hunter-gatherers of Cyprus is underway in the lower Troodos area aiming to establish the earliest human existence on the island. An archaeological research team headed by Prehistoric Archaeology Professor Nicos Efstratiou of the Archaeology Department of the Aristotelian University in Greece have completed their initial surface survey of south lower regions of Paphos, Limassol and Ammochostos providing encouraging results. The Department of Antiquities issued a release stating that material remains of these pre-neolithic hunters have been discovered dating around 10,000 BC.
