The second annual Fairy Folk Fest held by Cyherbia Botanical Park & Labyrinth in Avgorou village is taking place on March 26 and 27, and aiming to bring some magic and fairy dust to the island.

As part of the park’s annual themed events – which also include Halloween, Christmas and Easter – the festival will revolve around mythical and magical creatures, with the Woodland Faerie taking visitors on a ‘magical quest’ through the different areas of the park for a variety of games and activities.

Visitors are encouraged to come in costume (although it is not compulsory), and can dress to the theme as any fantasy character, such as fairies, goblins, pixies, knights and even pirates, with the best child and adult costumes winning a prize.

Unique maze
The gardens, Herbarium and unique maze – the largest on the island – will host various family activities, including: discover the magical realms of Faerie; outwit the goblins in the maze; fight a duel with the knight; find the Wishing Gem; encounter the Oracle; interactive storytelling with the Woodland Faerie, and more.

Both days start at 9.30am with activities running until 6pm, and last admission at 4pm. The storytelling sessions will take place at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm.

Owner and herbalist, Miranda Tringis, who spent 10 years creating the park, says that the event will be filled with fantasy.

“This is a great opportunity for children to engage their imagination through the activities, and for adults to get back in touch with their inner child, as well as enjoy a day in nature,” she said

Entrance is €6 with a gift for each child and a complimentary cup of ‘fairy tea’, whilst children under the age of three are free admission.
