Revenue from tourism in the period January – October 2015 recorded an increase of 3.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2014, according to data released Friday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, for the period January – October 2015, revenue from tourism was estimated at €1.977,6 million compared to €1.914,7 million in the corresponding period of 2014, recording an increase of 3,3%.
Revenue from tourism reached €225 million in October 2015 compared to €217,1 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 3,6%.

On a monthly basis, revenues fell sharply by 30% since in September 2015 had amounted to €321,1 million. September 2015 has recorded the largest annual percentage increase as revenues climbed by 17.4%.
In October 2015, a total of 269.363 persons visited Cyprus, compared to 251.453 in the corresponding month of 2014. However the average length of stay, decreased to 9.7 days in October 2015, compared with 10.5 days in October 2014.

At the same time, expenditure per person fell to €835 compared to € 863 in October 2014, in contrast to expenditure per day that increased to € 86 from € 82 in October 2014.

The United Kingdom remains the first country sending tourists in Cyprus, with 114.555 tourists, recording an increase by 13.28% on a yearly basis, followed by Russia with 35.131 tourists and a 28.34% decrease compared to October 2014 and Germany with 16.897 tourists recording an increase 30.2% compared to last October.
