Paphos Harbour

Paphos Harbour, located on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus, the ancient city of Paphos sits near the birthplace of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite. Among the numerous attractions to visit on the island, the harbour should definitely be at the top of the list.

Full of life and bustling with activities that carry on throughout the day and into the night, the picturesque harbour provides the perfect setting to enjoy the Cyprus sunshine.

Guarding the entrance to the harbour stands Paphos Castle, one of the most famous landmarks of the city. Originally a Byzantine fort, the Castle now serves as a background for the annual open-air Paphos cultural festival, which takes place in September.

Lined with bars, cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours, you are spoilt for choice when walking the length of the Harbour terraces looking for a place to benefit from the waterfront setting with a stunning view towards the medieval Castle.

It is easy to access the harbour by bus or taxi and one could quite easily spend the entire day there. Sipping on a refreshing drink, taking a leisurely walk, watching the local fisherman and boats in the port, sampling the Cypriot cuisine or visiting the Castle for a small fee and learning about its fascinating history, the harbour in Paphos is definitely worth taking the time to enjoy fully when visiting the charming island of Cyprus.
