Paphos will get active for charity this coming weekend as the biggest interactive mixed sporting event to hit the coastal town is back- bigger and better than ever, according to organisers.

The event, now in its fourth year, saw hundreds descend on Atlantida beach last year, to take part or watch a jammed packed programme. Following that success, organisers – Provision for Sports- have decided this years the event will last two days July 13 and 14.

It will take place at the Atlantida beach part of Yeroskipou municipality. All proceeds will be donated to ‘KIVOTOS’, a therapy and education centre for children with special needs.

Today ‘Summer Knockouts’ will see what is being described as a gala event- a mixture of Muay Thai and mixed Martial Arts Gala. This will be followed up with a beach party.

Managing director of Provision for Sports, Anastasis Charalambous, said: “It will give the opportunity to fans and participants to watch spectacular battles and enjoy their night by the beach. The beach party will be after this and music will include all of the latest hits and lots of surprises.”

The 4th Beach Aerobic Marathon will be held on Sunday. Instructors from local fitness centers will present various group exercise programmes. Contestants will follow all the presentations of the instructors judges will choose the winners from those who manage to complete the routines.

The winner of general category and the first place will from Paphos will each receive €300 in prize money, and a trophy.

Making another appearance is the TRX 40-40 challenge, as well as the Sumo Fighting Tournament.

The TRX challenge will see participants try to break the world record. They must execute certain moves on a TRX Suspension Trainer.

This year there is also a CrossFit competition.

The aim of the Cross-Fit contest is to find the first man or woman to compete in the next European CrossFit open games. There are two categories – men and women – but only one winner. The workout will not be announced and all athletes need to prepare for the unknown. “The only hints we can give you is train hard and work on your weaknesses,” the organisers said.

Lots of other games and competitions will take place during the Beach Aerobic Marathon. The event is open to men and women of all ages regardless of their physical condition.
