More than 900, uniformly dressed in black trousers and white t-shirts or shirts, flooded the square at Paphos’ Castle yesterday afternoon for a special occasion.

They danced Hasapiko (traditional Greek dance performed in a straight line by a team of dancers held by the shoulders) breaking the world record for the number of dancers that had participated.

In a joyful atmosphere, the dancers achieved their double goal: to support a charity in Paphos for people suffering with incurable diseases and at the same time break the Guinness World Record for Hasapiko held until today by Larnaca with 700 dancers.

The event was organised by the city’s Municipality with the participation of local organisations and ordinary people who wanted to contribute.
