Sun, sea, sand, sports and spa enticed British Olympic athletics champion Linford Christie for a family holiday in Cyprus.

Christie and his family were staying at the Amathus Beach Hotel in Limassol for a week.

Christie, currently coaching the British Olympic Track & Field team in preparation for the London Olympics 2012, is collaborating with Amathus Hotels, and Cypriot sporting champion Klearchos Petkakis and Andria Constantinou, gym instructor and personal trainer, to create a series of personal training programmes, which the hotel will be launching early 2012.

Probably Europe’s greatest ever 100m sprinter, Christie became the Olympic 100m Champion after winning the Gold Medal in Barcelona, 1992. In an International career spanning 17 years, Christie competed over 60 times for his country and won more major championship medals, 23, than any other British sprinter.

Christie is the only British athlete to have won Gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions and was the first European to have run sub 10 seconds. His fastest time 9.87 seconds, recorded when he won the 1993 World Championship in Stuttgart, is the European record.

Now retired, but still keeping fit, Christie’s is a familiar face on television, having presented three series of ‘Linford’s Record Breakers’ on BBC1 amongst others. More recently he has returned from a stint in the Australian jungle as part of ITV’s ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’.

Christie’s success in Athletics has continued since his retirement but now in a coaching role, having coached a number of top British athletes to success, including Olympic medals for both Darren Campbell and Katherine Merry. He is currently coaching some of Britain’s leading international athletes for the London Olympics 2012.

Aside from coaching, Linford has an active role in his own Sports Management Company “Nuff” Respect.
