Limassol has made it on the Mercer list of Western cities for top quality of living, coming at 88th place while Vienna ranks highest in overall quality of living for expats once again.

Vienna has remained at the top this year following its number one spot in 2015, boasting the best quality of living and beating out other major cities including New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Dubai, none of which made it anywhere near the top.

Limassol also made it on the list, which is compiled by the global consulting firm leading in the fields of investment, retirement, health, and talent mobility. The survey takes into consideration personal safety issues and a number of other objective methods for determining living costs.

Mercer helps clients and companies around the world advance the health, wealth and careers of their most vital asset – their people. Mercer’s more than 20,000 employees are based in 43 countries, and the firm operates in over 140 countries.

The Quality of Living Survey assesses quality of living conditions to help companies fairly compensate employees when placing them on international assignments. Mercer produces worldwide quality-of-living rankings annually with individual reports produced for each city surveyed.

The latest data was largely analysed between September and November 2015.

But Mercer says it may update the rankings regularly to account for changing circumstances, such as to reflect significant political, economic, and environmental developments.
