Harnessing Initiatives: Environmental Awareness Art Campaigns in Paphos, Cyprus

The art exhibition held in early September at Ibrahim’s Hani, in the Paphos shopping centre, was the latest in a series of actions undertaken over the past year by social and other organisations in Paphos, aiming to raise awareness of environmental issues among larger sections of the population and to involve more and more citizens in issues related to the protection of the ecosystem.

This particular art exhibition, part of the Ostrakon Project, was entitled “Timeless Travelers” and was an initiative of Air Balloon Digital Studio, aiming to support the activities of the environmental foundation Terra Cypria, which is the Cyprus Foundation for the Protection of the Environment.

Speaking to Phileleftheros today, the Executive Director of the organization, Koulla Michael, stressed that as part of environmental education, which is the Foundation’s longest-standing activity, Terra Cypria undertakes actions that contribute to the cultivation of active citizenship through various activities, projects, and initiatives.

The cornerstone of the Foundation’s education, training, and research activities is the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Studies (CECS), which is based in the village of Kritou Terra in Paphos District and has recently become active in Kathikas
