As an excited bride-to-be there are plenty of decisions that need to be made—and finding the right dress is one of the most important aspects of the day. It has to “feel” like it is exactly the right one. Maybe you will choose the first dress you try or maybe you will need to try several first but when the right one comes along, you will know.

Your wedding day is the day where you will be in the spotlight—all eyes will be on you; from walking down the aisle, signing your wedding certificate, having your first dance, or just mingling with friends and family. Your day will be filled with defining moments and your dress is a huge part of that. When looking for the perfect dress it may help to already be aware of exactly the type of dress that will fit and compliment your body shape. Loose and dreamy, fitted or elegant, silhouette or even short! Be sure to use your most flattering features in whatever you decide.

Of course, take a trusted friend with you that can also offer an honest opinion from someone who knows you best.
As you prepare for your bridal appointment, keep these general rules in mind:

  • A fitted type dress, mermaid or trumpet gown will accentuate your curves
  • Pleats or gathers around the waist area will serve to magnify curves but a well-fitted high-waist and loose skirt will combat this if you have this type of design in mind
  • If you are unsure, consider an A-line gown
  • Don’t rush! Allow plenty of time where you can dedicate the morning, afternoon, or the whole day just to your dress search, and don’t be afraid to ask the assistant to provide you with everything you have in mind! They are there to help.

Keep in mind you will be in your wedding dress for several hours so you need to be above all comfortable quickly followed by confident and 100% happy with your choice of gown. If you can also find it at the right price, then that’s a bonus! Your dress will be captured on all your wedding photography for you to look back on and reflect on in many years to come so it is money well spent!
