Discover Akamas Natural Wonders with Free Saturday Tours
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism invites you to join a free full-day tour of the stunning Akamas Peninsula, aiming to highlight key attractions and boost visitor numbers to this beautiful area.
These complimentary tours will run every Saturday as a pilot program for June and July 2024.
Here’s what you can expect on the tour:
- The tour begins at 9:15 am at the bus stop near the Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos and travels by bus.
- The route includes a scenic drive along the coastline and through the Peyia forest, leading to the first stop: the community of Arodes and the Akamas Geology and Paleontology Information Center. Here, visitors can explore fascinating exhibits showcasing the geological and paleontological history of the Akamas Peninsula.
- A brief pause in Arodes village square offers a chance for a coffee or refreshment break. (Note: Beverages are not included in the tour.)
- Next, the tour visits the Inia community and the newly opened Innia – Lara Turtle Museum. Here, you can delve into the world of sea turtles, learning about their biology, behavior, and the conservation efforts to protect them. Interactive tools, videos, and rich photo galleries enhance this experience.
- The journey continues to Droushia, where visitors can explore the Akamas Rural Life and Traditions Information Centre. This is a great opportunity to witness local arts and crafts through live workshops and demonstrations.
- Around noon, the tour moves to Kathikas village, where the Akamas Avifauna and Flora Visitor Centre awaits. Here, exhibits showcase the diverse birdlife and plant species of the Akamas Peninsula through interactive displays, photos, and videos.
- There will be free time for lunch at a local restaurant or café or a leisurely stroll around the area. (Lunch is not included in the tour.)
- At approximately 3:30 pm, the tour departs for Pafos, arriving back at the Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos parking lot by 4:15 pm, where the excursion concludes.
This initiative supports the Akamas communities as part of measures announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and is financially backed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
