Cyprus has launched an invitation for an expression of interest (EoI) in the exclusive license to use/exploit the logos and trademarks of Cyprus Airways (CA), one year after the liquidation of the island`s former national air carrier.

Cyprus Airways entered into a voluntary liquidation in January 2015 as the European Commission considered a subsidy granted by the government to the carrier illegal.

The tender was published in the local and international press on January 5. The use of the CA logos and trademarks concerns the operation of a flights schedule to and from Cyprus.

The Cyprus Privatisations Unit on June 2015 launched a process to determine interest in the transaction, with the government reserving the right to execute a formal process. The government decided to go ahead with the official process, estimating that investors would submit expression of interest in case of an official open tender, according to a quarterly report issued by the Privatisations Unit.

Under the tender terms, interested parties should submit their EoI by February 9.

Parties that expressed interest under the process launched on June 15 will not be required to re-submit written EoI.
