Cyprus and Israel are engaged in the annual Onisilos-Gideon military drill which has gotten underway and will carry on until Friday.

The drill is a joint military exercise that includes aerial manoeuvres by Israeli Air Force fighter jets within Nicosia’s FIR in collaboration with the Cypriot National Guard. According to witness, Israeli military jets have been spotted around Limassol and Troodos.
The drills – which will include simulated combat manoeuvres – will take place between 7am and 10.

Meanwhile, House President Yiannakis Omirou begins a two-day official visit in Israel on Wednesday following an invitation by Knesset Speaker, Yuli-Yoel Edelstein.

During his visit, the Cypriot official will be received by the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin and will have meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his counterpart Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, and other members of the Israeli government.
