The recent warm temperatures throughout Cyprus will soon make way for rain and cold, according to the latest weather forecast.

According to the Meteorological Services, the warm mass that has heated up the area – which was also accompanied by unwelcome high-levels of dust – will begin to depart as of Saturday and will be replaced by a colder, wetter weather mass as of Sunday.

Friday is forecast to be mainly fine with skies becoming increasingly overcast as the day progresses, particularly in the west. Temperatures will reach 26 °C inland, 22 °C on the west coast, 24 °C on the other coasts and 15 °C in the mountains.

Saturday will also start out mainly fine, again becoming gradually overcast as the day progress. Sunday will see overcast skies, localised rain showers and isolated storms. There may also be snow or sleet in the mountain areas on Sunday night.

More isolated showers and storms are forecast for Monday, mainly inland, in the mountains and in the east.

Temperatures will fall noticeably from Saturday and Sunday and will remain constant on Monday.

Vulnerable groups of the public were on Friday advised to continue to exercise caution because of the remaining dust in the air. These groups include children, the elderly, and  individuals with respiratory problems, all of which are advised to remain indoors as much as possible.
