The municipality are organising a series of island-wide events over the festive period ranging from carol concerts to Christmas train rides and fireworks display.  With decorations ranging from classy to tacky, it is stated that this year's offerings from the municipalities fit the bill perfectly, from the elegant spheres adorning Nicosia's Makarios Avenue to a child-friendly Santas grotto in Ayia Napa.

This year in Nicosia's Eleftheria Square, usually the public face of Christmas, is now an archaeological dig, with the focus now being on the old city and the Christmas tree sited in Ochi roundabout.  The annual funfair can be found in the moat nearby.  With environmentally friendly LED lights (consuming one-fifth of the energy of normal light bulbs).  Makarios Avenue and Stasikratous have had a large portion of the allocated 110,000 euro spent on Austrian made design lights, chosen for their quality and style.  The lights will remain in place until January 7th.   Limassol municipality has spent approximately 200,000 euro on festive decorations, with the Christmas tree being in Grigori Afxendiou Square on Anexartisias Street.  The tree is unusual and is said to resemble a 'layered cake.'  Decorations can also be seen on the coast road, Makarios Avenue and Ayios Nikolaos roundabout.

There is a Christmas fun fare at Heroes Square in the centre of town.  Ayia Napa focuses on the central square where there will be a series of Christmas concerts, train rides (on Christmas eve from 4pm) along with a fireworks display on new years eve with Paralimni and Derinya organising similar activities.  Paphos has invested in a variety of new Christmas decorations, with the main tree being outside the Town Hall.

For the first time, Poseidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos is lit up.  The Town Hall area will be the central focus for the New Years Eve celebrations.
